To help you getting around Ecuador we have put together a few travel tips that have been helpfull before for other travelers.
- Take good care of your luggage while your traveling with the bus. Your big backpack is fine in the bottom of the bus, but always keep your small, valuable luggage on your lap! Do not let anyone convince you that your bag is safer on the floor or above you.
- Be aware that the cheapest tours are not always the best tours! If you book a tour always check what is inclusive and listen to travel tips from other travelers.
- If you want to climb the Cotopaxi or another high mountain make sure you are well acclimatized, in this way your chance of reaching the top in much higher!
- Make sure that your money and bankcards are not all together but spread them in your luggage. If possible leave your valuables in the hostel where you are staying, what you don't carry around can't be stolen!
- We advise not to give candies, pens or money to the local people. It makes them dependent of tourist and this is not a desirable situation. If you like to support the local people in any where, there are quite a few projects that help local schools or community projects.
- If you want to try local food, always choose the busiest restaurants so you have the best chance that the food is fresh!
